11th September 2008 (ICDL, Ruby on Rails, Ramadhan and 9-11)

hello people, its that time again!!

time to spin up my version of news and gibberish to be placed onto the web to be read by anyone :)

i just realized a moment ago that today is 9-11. its has been a while since that incident and i stil remember when i first heard of the news. i was at home listening to the CapitalFM on my phone (back then, they didnt have walkman phones, hehehe), when they interrupted the current program with news that the twin towers were hit by 2 airplanes. at first i tot it was a joke since it was CT that was making the announcement but little that i knew that it was very much true. the next day at JIS, we were given the whole day to watch the news in the library and discuss our feelings abt the incident.

after all this time, has anyone benefitted from this event? some might say yes, some might say no. there was numerous talks of conspiracy and speculation but the truth hold firm, wat did we gain out of this? nothing good. a large number of people died, more died subsequently from the iraq war and the world suffered. i pray for those who have died, may they rest in peace, regardless of religion, regardless of race. we all die some time, but no one deserves to die they way they did.

on to a brighter subject, BAG(pronounced seperately B.A.G) Networks, the company i work for, will be holding a charity event where 500 orphans will be fed to a sungkai feast. the particulars are still being discussed but hopefully the event will commence within the holy month of ramadhan. iv read up a few articles on the net, from ranoadidas,  where charity events are being planned. its a good time of the year for charity and i hope that we all can set aside our differences to work together to fulfill the goals and vision of these events :)

another piece of news is personal. im currently in the process of aqcuiring my ICDL (international Computer Driving License). its actually a requirement in BAG Networks for all permanent employees to take this course. so far im feeling confident that i will pass. wish me luck peeps :) the test requires me to know the functions available in Windows XP and Microsoft Office. one of my office mates, kitkat, had trouble with the database section of the test, where she only got 80%. 80% might sound impressive to most but, 80% is the passing mark for the test!!! ur truly got 86% (heheeh) but even stil i was worried myself for a lil bit there. mind u, these are jus the mock tests so even if we do fail, its still ok. one of my other office mates, billy, got a whopping 93% for it but he claims that he got help from one of our mates and the instructor :P

since iv jus gotten my mac, im kinda a lil confused but i'll manage thru it somehow. funny enuf, there is no ICDL exam that tests u on about Mac os or any of the other open source OSes. mayb there shud be an exam for it, hehehe.

its been more than a week (i think) that my mac has been with me. one of my work mates, ryan, who also happens to have the first mac book pro in the office, gave me a an insight on a programming language called Ruby. he was also the person that helped me to configure my mac so that i can use it for work, so cheers to you mate ;)

well people, thats all for now.

im gonna head off home now. btw, Rad Canopy Cafe is having a sungkai promotion, for every 6 pax get 1 free for this week so head down there okay??

adios!!! :)
